CALIFORNIA YOUTH IN THEATRE DAY (CYIT) GRANTS
The Past President’s Council of CETA offers grants for elementary/middle/ high school CETA teachers and up to 2 students who have never participated in a CA Youth in Theatre (CYIT) Day to attend the Annual CA Youth in Theatre Day in Sacramento, CA. For this scholarship, this must be the first time that this school/teacher has ever attended CYIT. CETA CYIT Scholarships are also awarded to theatre students at each of our CETA Festivals.

FESTIVAL PARTICIPANTS:
INFORMATION

  • Grants are for all or part of CYIT registration and travel expenses.
  • Each festival will determine how many Grants will be made available in connection with each festival budget.


GRANT SELECTION PROCEDURE:

  • Selection committee will consist of two to three judges from that particular festival.
  • Award winners will be selected at festival.
  • The CYIT Grants will be announced at the Awards Ceremony for each festival.
  • Teacher commits to sponsoring student(s) by submitting the CYIT Grant Consideration Form prior to CYIT registration deadline.
  • Teachers will indicate if they are available for CYIT sponsoring prior to festivals. Only schools whose teachers indicate their sponsorship will be considered for grants.


GRANT FUNDING PROCESS
:

  • Theatre teacher recipients must send the Grant Acceptance information to Gai Jones confirming acceptance of the grant for themselves and their student delegate(s) by due date.
  • Theatre teacher recipients must register on-line and will be sent instructions how to note their status as a grant recipient by due date.
  • The grant for CYIT registration is paid directly from the festival to the CETA CYIT Registration.
  • The grant for CYIT travel is paid in advance from the CETA Treasurer to the theatre teacher recipient for themselves and their student delegate(s).
  • If recipients are unavailable to attend after the above has been paid out, their school is invoiced for the travel expense grant money and for the registration fee of each delegate who is unable to attend.


ELEMENTARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOL APPLICANTS
INFORMATION

  • Grants are for all or part of CYIT registration and travel expenses.
  • The Past Presidents Council provides a determined annual amount in grant funds for the selected Elementary and Middle School theatre teachers and students.


GRANT SELECTION PROCEDURE:

  • For Elementary and Middle Schools, applications are sent to Gai Jones by January 10 of the current school year.
  • Selection committee will consist of three members of the Past President’s Council.
  • Selected schools will be notified by January 15th.


AWARD PROCEDURE:

  • The recipients of the CETA CA Youth in Theatre Scholarships will be announced at the Festival Awards Ceremony.
  • Theatre teacher recipients must send the Grant Acceptance & confirm acceptance of the grant for themselves and their student delegate(s) by due date.
  • Theatre teacher recipients must register on-line before the due date and will be sent instructions how to note their status as a grant recipient.
  • The grant for CYIT registration is paid directly from the festival to the CETA CYIT Registration.
  • The grant for CYIT travel is paid in advance from the CETA Treasurer to the theatre teacher recipient for themselves and their student delegate(s).
  • If recipients are unavailable to attend after the above has been paid out, their school is invoiced for the travel expense, grant money, and for the registration fee of each delegate who is unable to attend.
  • If for any reason you do not register after receiving the scholarship or do not attend, your school will be invoiced for the scholarship amount.
