Chapter Select Call Backs
This is the final round of the Chapter Select process.
Troupes interested in performing at ITF will have been pre-selected from outstanding entries at the Regional Play Festivals earlier in the year to perform in Chapter Select Call Backs which will take place in a single, non-mainstage location at CSTF.
All Festival attendees are encouraged to watch these outstanding performances.
Adjudication: Using the ITF Chapter Select Rubric, plays will be adjudicated by a diverse panel of theatre professionals. The adjudicators will equally critique both adults and students. The adjudicators are encouraged to be open, honest, and direct with their feedback to the cast and the director regardless of the director’s age.
In 2026 we are offering Regional Play Festivals in Northern, Central Coast, LA/Inland, San Diego, and **NEW** Central Valley. We are also offering a virtual Play Festival.
Each troupe may only apply to one Play Festival. $200 per school. Additional $100 for non-Thespian schools.
Registration closes on January 9, or as each event sells out, whichever comes first.
Virtual submissions are due January 31.
Mainstage One Acts
Play Festival mainstage performances will be selected by a committee selected by the Executive Board of California State Thespians, based on the recommendations of the Play Festival adjudicators after the Regional Play Festivals in January.
One Act Showcase
High scoring performances from the Regional Play Festivals will be presented once again for audiences from around the state.
