Play Marathon provides an opportunity for troupes to perform a one-act play or a cutting from a full-length show at Festival. California Thespians may recommend one top-quality show from Play Marathon for the Chapter Select` Showcase at the International Thespian Festival. Up to three entries will be chosen to perform the main stage at the California Thespian Festival, selected from entries at the Northern, Southern, and Virtual Play Festivals.
The piece from the Play Festivals must be performed identically at State Festival.
Submissions should align with State Festival content guidelines, and be free of sexually, racially, religiously or culturally offensive material. We recommend selecting scripts in the public domain or from the EdTA list of pre-approved publishers.
To have a piece selected for Play Marathon, start by registering for the Northern, Southern, or Virtual Play Festival.
