California State Thespians (CST) invites all California middle and high schools to bring a performance to the annual California Thespian Play Festivals. Performances (up to 30 minutes) may be one-acts, cuttings from full-length productions, reader’s theatre, dance, mime, comedy, drama, etc. Performances are encouraged to be: entertaining, audience-appropriate, and timely. Student-written and student-directed pieces are encouraged.

Pieces will be adjudicated by a panel of theatre professionals who will share their notes with the cast and crew immediately after each performance in a casual, educational atmosphere. Virtual Play Festival entries will receive detailed written feedback.

  • Northern: Westmont High School, Campbell, Jan. 17, 2026
  • Central Coast: Arroyo Grande High School, Arroyo Grande, Jan. 17, 2026
  • Central Valley: Buhach Colony High School, Atwater, Jan. 24, 2026
  • LA / Inland: Upland High School, Upland, Jan 24, 2026
  • San Diego: Scripps Ranch High School, San Diego, Jan 24, 2026
Any California performing group may enter any of the CA Thespian Play Festivals (in person or Virtual), regardless of their location.

 

Important Dates:

  • Registration for in-person events is due Jan 9.
  • Virtual submissions are due on Jan 30.

Rates:

  • $200 per Thespian troupe.
  • $300 per non-Thespian group.

Registration does not include lunch.
